Karaoke Clubs and Contests

A Karaoke community

As its international popularity increases, Karaoke has also become an online trend and there are innumerable clubs and contests to join through online communities. While there are many local clubs and communities available to the Karaoke star, when you go online you can share your love of music worldwide. Some online clubs are also local clubs that like to share their events and performances with other clubs throughout the nation.

Show Your Stuff

After you choose a local or online club, you’ll inevitably run into the Karaoke competition. These contests tend to be highly organized with different levels of competition from beginner to professional. They’re judged by industry professionals (often Karaoke DJs, previous contest winners or professional singers) and can offer some great prizes. Some people even use these contests as a way to get exposure and to embark on a professional music career.

Do it Yourself

If you’re having trouble finding a club or community that caters to your needs (be it location, member size, music genre, etc.) it’s incredibly easy to start your own. The best place to begin is on the internet. Make a website for karaoke lovers and your club members are sure to follow. Allow for a webring or a forum so that members can communicate with each other and you’ll find everyone will soon be ready to get together.

Some ways that you can get your online community growing are:

  1. Start a forum with some interesting threads. Ask people what their favorite Karaoke music is. Find out if you have any professionals viewing your site – ask people to share their performance and competition stories!
  2. Allow members to post blogs or link their own pages. The more space you offer to your web guests the better because the more opportunity there is for people to share the more chances of developing good connections.
  3. Start a contest. Let people post their recordings (you can do this with audio or video posts) and have other members rate the performances on a scale of one to ten. Make sure to have some prizes available for the winner!
  4. Write a newsletter. Get your guests to subscribe to your weekly (or even monthly) newsletter so that you can keep them up to date with all the latest Karaoke news and local events. You want everyone to feel connected in your community and sharing local performances, clubs and events is a great way to bring your members together.
  5. Plan a meeting. Whether your online community is local or has grown into a national club, arrange an event for everyone to get together. Perhaps plan a Karaoke convention or a weekend long competition.

If you find that your membership is more national or international, then try to keep some events virtual. Not everyone will be able to attend an event that’s far away from their home town and you don’t want anyone to feel neglected. It’s easy to download recording software onto your computer so that your Karaoke club members can record and share their performances – or even start their own competitions!
